Is it wrong to put garbage in someone else's garbage can?
What are the different criterian for this decision?
I will withhold my opinions for now, so as not to taint the well.

It's okay in any of these cases:
- It's something very small.
- Their trash is out on the curb and they have plenty of space left (while yours is full).
- You're friends with them.
- You hate them.
- Nobody sees you do it.
Was it body parts?
Does the person whose garbage can you threw something in pay for their trash removal?
you truly are my other half. i just dreamt this two nights ago and was having a conversation about my friend putting her dogshit in a random garbage bin on someone's sidewalk while walking her dog...and then you post it. wow.
i think you shouldn't put stuff in people's bins, unless it's small and you cleaned it up off the ground...which is a help...and the garbage is being picked up right away.
Nice, friends.
Mur, you hit on many of the considerations S and I were thinking of... Size, space, relationship, spectators or none... you're funny too.
David, those go in the tub and then the river. C'mon!
GFM, good question. That would surely make a difference. In this case, no. So, is it alright?
Momma Fi, (kindred spirits babe) the conversation came up for S and me about dog shit, actually. We are in agreement in general about when it is okay and not okay.
S and I decided, it's okay when...
-it isn't smelly (dog shit)
-you aren't near your own
-can is at the curb (not the side of the person's house... LOL)
-you are picking up litter
-trash hasn't already been collected for the day
-no one is there to ask, or you've asked
-there is no collection fee for the owner
-it isn't evidence you are trying to hide, David.
Not okay otherwise, we thinks.
Any other ideas?
I put trash in people's cans all the time. It's what trash cans are for. Why would someone covet a trash can? I wouldn't put smelly poop (unless it's in several layers of plastic) in someone's can, but if I'm walking by with a gum wrapper, damn straight! I would rather people use my trash can than do what they usually do, which is throw the trash on the ground.
Silly. Trash is trash. Who gives a crap whether it's your own?
